The common guy does not rent btc, the common guy is your aunt that can barely use her smartphone.
The only way of letting common people enjoy Bitcoin's benefits is teaching them about Bitcoin, then they will naturally progress torwards earning yields and putting their btc to work for them. Then they can build wealth in btc.
But first we gotta teach our aunts what is a bitcoin and why it matters.

You are spot on!
We can't teach our aunt what bitcoin is and what benefits it can provide until us "uncommon bitcoiners" start providing use cases that also benefit the "commoner."
For me it really comes down to - those of us that have...must not simply "hoard" our new found abilities to benefit from the old systems but rather use our time to ensure that all who come after us benefit as much or more than we have.
